Garret Dillahunt

New appearance – Law & Order: SVU 11×05 Hardwired

From TV Guide:

Rosie Perez and Garret Dillahunt will square off on an explosive episode of Law & Order: SVU this fall about pedophiles’ rights, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

On the fifth episode of the new season, Dillahunt (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles‘ Cromartie, No Country for Old Men) will play the head of a pedophilia organization (think NAMBLA — or, you know, don’t). “It’s called ‘Hardwired,'” executive producer Neal Baer says, “because they believe that pedophilia is [a genetic predestination].” [TV Guide]

The casting call for the episode is up at SpoilerTV. From the report, it seems to be this character:

[KEVIN SHEEHEY] Male, Caucasian, Late 30s-Late 40s; A meticulous, charismatic; intensely focused man; with deep dark dubious undercurrents who is the President of “Safe Place”, an organization that promotes pedophilia as a legitimate sexual orientation. He has a cult-like ability to charm and connive. His goal is to change people’s attitudes toward adults dating children. He even convinces his members to take videos of them abusing children and send it to him. (GUEST STAR)

Season 11 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit premieres on Wednesday, September 23, so episode 11×05 will air some time in late October (Oct. 21 at the earliest).

For updates, follow Neal Baer on Twitter and keep an eye on the SVU production blog on NBC’s site.

Another guest appearance: Lie to Me, episode 2×02

This just in, from Shawn Ryan (new Lie to Me showrunner):

To those of you who guessed Garret Dillahunt as our big guest star on Ep.2 of Lie To Me… give yourselves a hand.

Here is the casting call for the character, from LieToMeScoop.com:

[ERIC MATHESON] mid to late 30s. Male. Caucasian. A fugitive suspected of murdering his wife, Matheson takes Lightman (Tim Roth) hostage in an effort to prove his innocence. He’s been in trouble with the law before and made lots of enemies. He feels guilty for dragging his wife into his dangerous world and will do anything to clear his name and find the real killer. GUEST LEAD

Life fans will be happy to know that producer/writer/director Dan Sackheim is also on board for season two.

Lie to Me returns on September 28, so unless there are any schedule changes, episode 2×02 should air on Monday, October 5 at 9 PM on Fox, right after House.

Three new films: One Night Only, Oliver Sherman, Unbound Captives

Okay, the film news, finally. Garret has several projects lined up, two of them in the very near future.

First up is One Night Only, a short film with Kristen Wiig, that starts shooting one of these days in New York.

The mystery project, Oliver Sherman, is a psychological thriller written by Ryan Redford that goes into production in September in Toronto. Garret will play Oliver Sherman, a “damaged soldier who seeks out an old platoon buddy and his wife and tries to put some demons to rest.” Molly Parker will also star.

The third film, still a few months away, is Unbound Captives, a western drama/romance/epic set in the 1860s, written by Madeleine Stowe, who is also attached to direct it. (Interesting story about that here.)

The film is expected to start shooting toward the end of the year on locations in New Zealand and New Mexico. The story follows a woman named May (Rachel Weisz), whose two children are kidnapped and husband killed by the Comanche. She is rescued by a frontiersman, Tom Dearborn (Hugh Jackman), who later helps her search for the kids. Garret will play Jackman’s brother Jack and Robert Pattinson (Little Ashes, Twilight) has been cast as May’s son Phineas. John Toll (Braveheart, The Thin Red Line) will be the cinematographer. Producer Ashok Amritraj recently told the Deccan Herald that they are targeting an early 2011 release date.

And, to recap, between then and now:

The Last House on the Left is out on DVD on August 18
Life season two will be released on August 25
The Road might will premiere in Venice some time in early September (TBA July 30)
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles season two comes out on DVD on September 22
The CSI season premiere airs on September 24
Lie to Me episode 2×02 airs on October 5
The Road opens wide on October 16
Burning Bright is still slated for release in 2009, but no exact date yet
Winter’s Bone might premiere at Sundance in late January, but we won’t know for sure until December, when they release the official lineup

Finally, here is some footage of Garret’s co-stars trashing equipment on the set of Burning Bright, from The Hollywood Edge:

New guest appearance: CSI season 10 premiere

Some television news:

Garret will guest star on CSI again in the season 10 opener, Family Affair. He will play Tom O’Neill, the head of a celebrity security service who gets a visit from the CSI team after a client’s girlfriend is killed in a car accident. (For clips from his previous appearances on CSI and CSI: NY, click on CSI 3×18 and CSI: NY 1×23.)

SpoilerTV has the casting call for the episode here. Be warned, character descriptions contain plot spoilers.

EW’s Ausiello also has some general spoilers for the new season in his last column. Highlight the text below to read:

Question: Will Grissom be joining Sara back on CSI early in the season? –Lois
Ausiello: No, but some old friends of his will be. Exec producer Carol Mendelsohn reveals to me exclusively that CSI will be bringing back a few members of the infamous Millander clan in this season’s second episode. “The last time we saw [serial killer] Paul Millander was in season 2 when Grissom had dinner at [his alter ego] Judge Mason’s house, because, if you remember Paul lived a double life as a judge. And we met Mrs. Mason and their young son, Craig. Well, Paul’s dead, but Mrs. Mason and Craig live on. And we will see them in episode 2.” Why? Keep reading for a possible clue…

Question: The season premiere of CSI is only two months away. I’m sure that you’ve gotten some kind of spoiler or tidbit to throw to us! –Andy and Rebecca
Ausiello: You can drop the “or.” I’ve got a spoiler and a tidbit, courtesy of exec producer Naren Shankar. First the tidbit: “You’re going to get an explanation for that ring Langston (Laurence Fishburne) still has on his finger in [episode 2].” Now for the spoiler: “We’re going to launch a new season-long serial killer arc this season. Starting at the end of our premiere, a brand new nemesis [will emerge] who has a very unique way of killing.” More unique than that whole miniature thing? “This time, the crime scene is always the body,” Shankar teases. “We’re calling him Dr. Jekyll.”

The CSI season 10 premiere will air on September 24 at 9 on CBS.
