Garret Dillahunt

New guest appearance: White Collar

Garret will play a State Department crook in episode 1×05 of White Collar, a new crime show that follows the head of the FBI’s white-collar crime unit (Tim DeKay) and a con artist (Matthew Bomer) he enlists to help him solve cases. The show will premiere in late October. Other regulars are Tiffani Thiessen (What About Brian),  Willie Garson (Sex and the City) and Natalie Morales (The Middleman). The pilot airs on October 23 at 10/9c on USA. The airing schedule for the rest of the season isn’t available yet, but if there aren’t any breaks and the episodes don’t get shuffled, episode five should air some time in late November.

The premise of the show:

WHITE COLLAR revolves around the unlikely partnership of a con artist and an FBI agent who have been playing cat and mouse for years. Neal Caffrey (Bomer), a charming criminal mastermind, is finally caught by his nemesis, G-Man extraordinaire Peter Burke (DeKay). When Neal escapes from a maximum-security prison to find his long-lost love, Peter nabs him once again. Rather than returning to jail for his daring getaway, Neal suggests an alternate plan: he’ll provide his expertise to assist the Feds in catching other notorious and elusive criminals. Initially wary, Peter quickly finds that Neal provides insight and intuition that cannot be found on the right side of the law.

WHITE COLLAR was created and is executive produced by Jeff Eastin (“Hawaii,” “Meet the Marks”) and comes from Fox Television Studios. Bronwen Hughes (USA’s BURN NOTICE, “Breaking Bad,” “Forces of Nature”) directed the pilot.

Law & Order SVU “Hardwired” Air Date 10/21/2009 (9 PM ET/ 8C Wednesday)
A YOUNG BOY IS RAPED, AND THE SUSPECT LEADS TO A CIVIL RIGHTS GROUP IN FAVOR OF CHILD-ADULT RELATIONSHIPS.

After Eva Banks (guest star Rosie Perez) makes a shocking discovery about her son, Cory’s (guest star Cruz Santiago) behavior at school, she takes him to the doctor, only to find out that he has been the victim of sexual abuse. Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni) come onto the scene and question the victim and his family. From the boy’s frightened reaction when his stepfather, Thomas Banks (guest star Jim True-Frost), silences the investigation, it is clear to everyone in the room who the real perpetrator is. Detective Benson and Stabler are about to arrest the suspect when Thomas agrees to give up the leader of the largest pro child-adult relationship civil rights group in exchange for amnesty. Paul Guilfoyle and Garret Dillahunt in CSI 10x01, "Family Affair"

Fanboy spotting: Chris Jones, Esquire

From Esquire.com today:

If Dillahunt has a single spoken line, I will drive 1,000 miles to watch him say it. He plays a psycho named Krug in The Last House on the Left — “Do you want to hear what I did to your daughter?” — and I see my first horror movie in 20 years. Other people will go see The Road this month because they love Cormac McCarthy or Viggo Mortensen, and I’ll go because Dillahunt has a small part as an anonymous gang member.

“I’ve got a nice mullet in that,” he says when we talk, and I giggle like a dumbstruck crush.

God, it’s so awful. I admit my stammering affection for him and it comes out all wrong, like Chris Farley fawning over his guests in those old SNL skits. I ask him why he isn’t a bigger star — meaning, how can someone so good at what he does not be poster size — and he says, “I don’t know if my little career plan is going to work, but so far it’s working for me,” and I wonder if I’ve said the wrong thing. When it comes to Garret Dillahunt, both reason and the right words escape me.

Gushing continues here.

CSI season premiere airs tomorrow + updates on Lie to Me and SVU

Another reminder: CSI 10×01, “Family Affair,” airs tomorrow (Thursday) at 9 on CBS. (Scroll down for some new info on Garret’s appearances on Lie to Me and SVU.)

The synopsis:

The CSI team, with the unexpected but welcome return of Sara, comes together to investigate the death of a famous young actress killed in a dubious traffic collision

Garret plays the head of a celebrity security service whose client’s pregnant girlfriend is killed in a car crash.

Here is a behind-the-scenes look, from SpoilerTV:

A minor update on Lie to Me. It seems that Garret’s episode has been pushed back a bit. IMDb and TV Guide still list “Honey” as episode 2×02, but LieToMeScoop.com has posted a press release for episode two and it’s the one originally listed as 2×03, “Truth or Consequences,” with Jennifer Beals, John Carroll Lynch and James Marsters guest starring. Shawn Ryan also confirms that “Truth and Consequences” will air first (Oct. 5).

Digital Spy did an interview with Brendan Hines, who had this to say about “Honey:”

Apparently there’s a hostage situation in episode two?
“Yeah, there is. I’m not going to tell you the exact circumstance but that does happen. By the way, if you were watching season one and thinking, ‘I like this show but Tim Roth doesn’t get the shit kicked out of him enough’ you’ll be really happy come season two. I think it’s every episode these days he’s getting bruised and bloodied.”

What’s been your favourite episode to shoot up to now?
“The hostage episode was really fun – Tim Busfield directed it and it’s incredibly kinetic – it never really stops so it was a lot of fun to do and it was a big change for us.”

Jennifer Beals has been back on set – do you know how Lightman’s relationship with her develops?
“I really like it when the show goes in that direction – Tim and Jennifer, and Tim and Hayley [McFarland] who plays his daughter – it shows us the difficulty that he has maintaining any sort of close relationship and how hard it is. I really like it because it’s not a side of him we get to see very often. We’ve got Garret Dillahunt, too. He’s fantastic and he shows up and causes all kinds of trouble.”

Finally, TV Guide Magazine has an article about the new season of Law & Order: SVU. This is how it describes episode 11×05:

A story about pedophilia features Rosie Perez as a mother who fears her second husband (Garret Dillahunt) is sexually abusing her son. (Prodigal regulars Stephanie March and B.D. Wong return in that episode, the season’s fifth.)
