Elsewhere, Deadline posted a couple of casting updates for Monsters of God today. Lauren Ambrose has been cast as the co-lead and Kwame Patterson is joining as a regular.

Ambrose, the two-time Emmy nominee for Six Feet Under, will play Cynthia Lancaster, wife to Dillahunt’s Col. “Terrible” Bill Lancaster, who despite the peace between the Comanche and locals sets sets out on a quest to kill off every single member of the tribe, bringing wild chaos to the town of Slater. Cynthia, meanwhile, will let no one get in the way of her obsessive quest to institute her wildly feminist ideals. Cultured, strategic and ferociously ambitious, she’ll go to great lengths to show that she is not defined by her role as Bill’s wife. She has an agenda that often conflicts with her husband and has the potential to radically redefine the frontier culture they live inside. — Deadline

Patterson will play Oatis. He and his family are freed slaves, but they experience limited and conditional independence working for Lancaster as personal servants. Oatis discovers something awakened inside himself and goes on the hunt for something beyond a small taste of freedom. — Deadline

Monsters of God update

Several casting announcements for Monsters of God were made in the last couple of weeks and they include a few more details about the show. Pat Healy, Caitlin Gerard and Brian Geraghty are joining as regulars.

Healy will play Sergeant Major Wit Reynolds, a barbarous and power hungry U.S. Army NCO who works directly with Colonel Lancaster and is one of the few at Fort Thayer to agree with his desire to exterminate the Comanche tribe. Ruthless in his own way, Reynolds makes his power known, even standing up to the Colonel when Lancaster steps out of bounds. He has a taste for alcohol and women, and no time for underlings. He has spent his entire career working for Lancaster. — Deadline

Gerard will play Ayasha. Seemingly a beautiful, feisty, and strong Comanche woman, Ayasha is captured by Lancaster (Dillahunt) and revealed to be Caucasian. She refuses to speak to Lancaster or go along with his attempts to assimilate her; Ayasha is loyal to her tribe and is ready to fight for her freedom. — Deadline

Geraghty will play Major Ellroy McQueen, the handsome, well-groomed and thoughtful new executive officer to Colonel Lancaster – an appointment that doesn’t sit well with the Colonel. Always careful to only say as much as he needs to, McQueen is well aware of Lancaster’s ruthless tendencies, and must determine the best way to approach this new position. — Hollywood Reporter

New projects: Monsters of God, Wheelman

Garret has been cast as the lead in Monsters of God, a new pilot for TNT produced by Plan B Entertainment. It is a post-Civil War drama written by Rod Lurie (The Contender, Resurrecting the Champ, Commander in Chief), who will also direct it. A few fun details from Deadline:

In Monsters of God, written and to be directed by Lurie, savagery and violence are the cornerstones of Colonel “Terrible” Bill Lancaster (Dillahunt)’s holy war against the Comanche in post-Civil War Texas. Despite the peaceful co-existence between the Comanche and local townspeople, Lancaster sets out on a quest to kill off every single member of the tribe, bringing chaos to the town of Slater.

Vicious, relentless, and a tower of a man, Colonel “Terrible” Bill Lancaster is the newly in-charge leader at Fort Thayer, a military base in Texas that exists to make peace with the nearby Comanche tribe. A fighter for the North in the Civil War, Lancaster’s morals stopped there; he now focuses on the total extermination of the Comanche, a goal in contrast to his orders. — Deadline

Monsters of God is also the silver lining to Hand of God not getting picked up for a third season. The second and last season of that show won’t be released until 2017.

In the meantime, here is a brief synopsis for Wheelman, the Netflix movie Garret is currently filming with Frank Grillo:

Grillo plays a getaway driver thrust into a high stakes race for survival after a bank robbery goes terribly wrong. With a car full of money and his family on the line, the clock is ticking to figure out who double-crossed him, and the only person he can trust is his 14-year-old daughter. — Variety

Here is a pic Grillo posted on Instagram last week:

Wheelman was written by Jeremy Rush, who is also directing.

Elsewhere, The New York Times is reporting November 11 as the release date for Come and Find Me, so we should probably start seeing and hearing more on that front soon.

COME AND FIND ME Aaron Paul (has it really been three years since “Breaking Bad” ended?) stars as a man whose wife disappears. It turns out she was living a double life, so finding her isn’t simple (or necessarily advisable). With Annabelle Wallis and Garret Dillahunt. Zack Whedon wrote and directed.

And The Mindy Project is coming back with its fifth season next week. The first of 16 episodes will be released on Hulu on Tuesday, Oct. 4. Here is a new trailer:
