Arkansas Traveler update

Updates on several fronts, but let’s start with this film:

garret dillahunt, arkansas travelerThe Kansas City Star talked to Ed Leydecker from Wide Awake Films recently and they have an update on Arkansas Traveler:

“We have a complete business plan put together, and we’re out there looking for funding,” [Leydecker] said. “Everybody remains very committed to it.”

The goal is to raise $10 million. Half would be used to produce the film about a psychotic Confederate officer who escapes a federal POW camp and treks back to his home in Arkansas. The other $5 million would be set aside for marketing and distribution costs.

The two Hollywood actors who participated in shooting the trailer — Garret Dillahunt and Angela Bettis — still want to appear in the film, Leydecker said. In the meantime, Dillahunt has a new hit TV series, the sitcom “Raising Hope,” while Bettis has landed guest spots on “Dexter” and “C.S.I.”

Winter’s Bone nabbed a few more nominations and awards from the critics in the meantime, most notably Best Ensemble from the Detroit Film Critics. Cinematical did a neat little roundup of all the Oscar contenders across the categories. You can read it here.

Raising Hope returns on Tuesday, February 8 at 9 pm. Mary Lynn Rajskub from 24 will make an appearance in one of the upcoming episodes.

Also in February, Oliver Sherman finally gets released, at least in Canada. Added a new hi-res poster to the film’s page.

And that pretty much wraps it up for the year. Hope everyone has a great New Year’s Eve and see you in 2011!
