12 Years a Slave is out in a limited release next week. It doesn’t open wide until November 1, so check your local listings to see which release date applies in your area.

Raising Hope is still a month away, but Fox has released the first promo for the season four opener, with Jeffrey Tambor taking a break from The Good Wife courtroom to play Virginia’s dad.
The show is back on Friday, November 8 at 9 pm.
Great news from the Toronto Film Festival, just in:
12 Years a Slave was named the top audience prize winner at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday.
The Steve McQueen-directed film now numbers among previous TIFF audience award winners like Slumdog Millionaire, American Beauty and Silver Linings Playbook that received a lift in Toronto on their way to Academy Awards glory.
Fox Searchlight will release 12 Years a Slave in theaters on Oct. 18. The film had its world premiere on September 6 at the Princess of Wales Theater. – THR

Meanwhile, the film has been added to the Hamptons International Film Festival, and will be screened there on Oct. 14. Details here.
12 Years a Slave premiered at the Toronto Film Festival yesterday. Steve McQueen and the main cast were there to introduce the film, and stayed for a brief Q&A after the screening.
The film will have its European premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 18th, with additional screenings on the 19th and 20th. Tickets and info here.
