Killing Them Softly UK DVD – no deleted scenes

Killing Them Softly UK DVDKilling Them Softly is out on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK/Region 2 today, so just a heads-up to anyone who was going to get it:

Extras

Disappointingly all we get in the way of extras is a selection of Interviews from the main cast and crew – Andrew Dominik, Ben Mendelsohn, Max Casella, Ray Liotta, Scoot McNairy, Richard Jenkins and Trevor Long. Sure Brad Pitt is conspicuous in his absence, but otherwise all the main players are covered. The real disappointment is not only that there’s no writer/director Commentary; it’s not that there’s no meaty Documentary – it’s that there are no Deleted Scenes. Anybody who knows the works of Dominik will know that this final cut of the movie must have been culled from a much longer vision, and that there must be a significant amount of extra footage sitting around somewhere. This is, of course, confirmed by the fact that Deleted Scenes were once rumoured to be part of the Blu-ray release (and may still pop up on the Region A US release), making it even more insulting that they didn’t bother to include them here. — AV Forums

The U.S./Region 1 DVD/Blu-ray will be released on March 26 and, if the press release below is anything to go by, at least one version of the release will include deleted scenes. I’m not yet 100% sure Garret’s scenes will be among them, but hopefully at least one review will mention it between now and then. Continue reading

New interview & Twelve Years a Slave update

Iconic Interview has a new interview with Garret. In it, he talks about everything from Deadwood and The Sarah Connor Chronicles to Any Day Now and Twelve Years a Slave. Snippets below, and you can read the whole article at the link.

On Raising Hope:

Iconic Interview: Raising Hope is really idiosyncratic and I can’t think of anything else like it. What do you think makes this unusual show so successful?
Garret Dillahunt: I think it’s because it’s good and funny and people can identify with it in some way. I don’t think it’s far-fetched to assume that. This family is not a rich family; they have a hard time getting by, but you wouldn’t know it. They still find a lot of joy. They’re idiosyncratic, but loving. I think that’s how most families are, really. Everyone thinks their family is the craziest family in the world. [If you ask], they’re like, “My God, my family’s crrrazy!” So I think it’s not far from home for everybody.

You stop looking and there he is. Charlemagne Moody, in my inbox at last:

^ That’s Garret in One Life to Live, his very first TV credit. Thanks to Seriously OMG for discovering it, and to the original uploader. There are probably other episodes on YouTube if you feel like snooping.

And let’s see if Greg Garcia can top that tonight. Luke Perry guest stars in “Arbor Daze” at 8 pm. Previews:

The Ghost of Arbor Day Past, Present, and Future pays a visit to Sabrina in the middle of the night, after she takes a stand against the way the Chance family celebrates Arbor Day.
