I LOVE Raising Hope, especially Maw-Maw! Any scoop? — Vic
Well, if you like relatives, you’ll love this. Next season, we’re going to meet Burt’s parents! “We actually have a story idea, but we ran out of episodes for this season to do it,” showrunner Greg Garcia tells me. “But I think that as you continue on, rather than just looking forward at these people and their lives, it’s always fun to look back and see how they became who they were. There’s a little bit of stuff [in an upcoming episode] with the cousin Mike story, where J.K. Simmons plays Burt’s brother. There’s some stuff we get into there about his relationship with his brother. But certainly I think we’re going to meet Burt’s parents in season 2 and learn more about his backstory as well. In our season finale, there’s a lot of explanation about the relationship between Maw-Maw and Burt and Virginia and their whole dynamic, as well.” Now, take your casting suggestions in comments! Please, more Raising Hope scoop! The show is so under-loved. — Gale
There will be an episode coming up where the family tackles the issue of Hope’s custody…should they all die. Leave it to Hope to make talk of a sudden, freak death funny. I’m laughing inappropriately already.
And from TV Squad:
‘Raising Hope’
Jaime Pressley and Ethan Suplee, who were regulars on the NBC sitcom ‘My Name Is Earl,’ will appear in the penultimate episode of the season as a married couple who lives in the neighborhood.

Raising Hope previews & promo
Fox has released a bunch of photos from episode 1×15, “The Cultish Personality,” with J.K. Simmons and Mary Lynn Rajskub guest starring, but they also put out a press release for another episode 1×15, called “Snip Snip.” I’m not posting any new pages until it’s clear which episode airs first, but you can see all the new stills on Pizquita.
Entertainment Weekly talked to Greg Garcia the other week and got a few interesting bits about the season finale and the babies not getting fired after this season:
“In our season finale, there’s a lot of explanation about the relationship between Maw-Maw, Burt, and Virginia and their whole dynamic,” he says of the episode that flashes back to five years ago.
Looking back is easy. Looking forward, however, is a bit trickier given that Hope is helmed by babies who will age even when the cameras aren’t rolling between seasons. (Hope is played by two sets of twins.) Thankfully, Garcia has a simple plan for that, too (because this isn’t The Simpsons, people).
“Things can always change, but the plan now is to start season 2 jumping forward in time to the point where the baby is whatever the [babies’ ages are] when we start season 2. We might even do a first episode that tells the story of what happened up until the last time we saw them,” he says. “I’d like to incorporate some home videos of the baby in that time and get some good stuff of the baby growing up so our viewers can also watch the baby grow up in those six months [we’re off the air]. At that age, with babies that little, every month they change.”
