The previews:
PopEater.com has a new interview with Garret, mostly about Raising Hope and the photo shoots he did with Tyler Shields.
Tyler Shields has posted a few more photos from the second shoot on his blog. There is also a clip in there somewhere.
“Meet the Grandparents” airs tomorrow at 9.
A new interview showed up at the Australian site Jive TV and Fox released some pictures behind the scenes of Raising Hope 1×08, “Blue Dots,” as well a few more pics from episode 1×10, “Burt Rocks,” with Jason Lee. See below and click to enlarge.
And keep voting for the show at the People’s Choice Awards and for Winter’s Bone at the Gotham Awards site.
Dillahunt is taken with the tone Raising Hope has adopted, claiming that “there’s a reality to it, and the people in it seem utterly believable to me”.
“They’re a little extreme but at their core they’re genuine and honestly touching,” he says.
“I love Martha Plimpton (pictured, above), who plays my wife, and what she’s doing with Virginia is what I hope I’m doing with Burt. She’s certainly sussing out the comedy but she’s also finding and expressing these moments of love and generosity in ways that might seem surprising.
“I don’t think we’re talking down to the audience at all – there’s a lot going on up front but also in the back. It holds up. With most sitcoms I watch, I never feel like I’m seeing a real world. And there’s a place for that – some shows do it really well, and I’ll laugh at them. But in this instance, I find it more rewarding to be a part of something that feels true.” [Jive TV]
“Burt Rocks:”
A new interview with Garret showed up at Examiner.com today. Follow the link to read it. Here is a nice standalone snippet:
“I was really glad he loves his wife so much,” Dillahunt shared. “I think Martha [Plimpton, Virginia] and I were both kind of tired of the sitcom staple of ‘Ugh, the bitchy wife; I can’t stand her!’…We thought ‘What if these people actually dig each other? What if these people found their soul mates at fifteen?'”
And Dillahunt calls working with Plimpton “one of the easiest times [he’s] had.” The two didn’t know each other prior to Raising Hope, and she had already been cast when he went in to read for Burt, but they hit it off quickly.
Episode 1×08, “Blue Dots,” airs tonight at 9 pm.
