Well, it is available on Amazon. As it turns out, it’s been out since November, but for some reason I expected it to show up as a download on Audible, not an audio book on Amazon, so I didn’t discover it there sooner. Golden Globe Award-winning actress Christine Lahti and Garret Dillahunt will join Tony Award-winning actor Frank Wood in the L.A. Theatre Works presentation of Side Man.

Lahti will step into the role of Terry (originated by Edie Falco), and Dillahunt will replace Broadway Side Man cast member Scott Wolf as Clifford. (…)

Stephen Sachs will direct the LATW run that is scheduled to play May 12-16 as part of “The Play’s the Thing” series at the Skirball Cultural Center.

LATW describes the play as “a rich and moving tribute to a lost era of jazz and big bands, a time before the birth of rock ‘n’ roll when jazz musicians were legends.” [Playbill]

In other news, Wide Awake Films posted a few pics from the Arkansas Traveler trailer shoot on their Facebook page and Nikki Finke’s site says that Keep Hope Alive is among the frontrunners for the 2010/11 season.

Things of Dry Hours opened on June 8. You can catch it at New York Theatre Workshop (79 East 4th Street, NYC) until June 28. For all the details, click on the poster.

There is also a bunch of new material on the NYTW site: production history, downloadable audio recordings of the post-performance discussions on May 30 and June 2, with playwright Naomi Wallace and director Ruben Santiago-Hudson among others, cast & crew bios, and even a brief study guide outlining the untold history of communism in the U.S. with a supplementary reading list.

The cast & crew bios section has a new upcoming film listed for Garret, called Oliver Sherman. The film isn’t listed yet on any of the major sites (IMDb, Variety, etc.) and it doesn’t show up on Google, so hopefully that will change one of these weeks/months. In the meantime, it’s getting its own news category – mystery projects.

Things of Dry Hours is currently in previews. You can get the full schedule and the tickets on the NYTW site. If you follow NYTW on Twitter, you can also snag free tickets that they are handing out every Thursday.

The New York Theater Workshop has announced Delroy Lindo, Roslyn Ruff, and Garret Dillahunt will star in its final production of the season, Naomi Wallace’s “Things of Dry Hours,” which Ruben Santiago-Hudson will direct.

The play by Ms. Wallace, the recipient of a 1999 MacArthur “genius award,” is set in Depression-era Alabama and centers on a black Sunday school teacher and Communist Party member (Mr. Lindo) and his daughter (Ms. Ruff), who end up hiding a factory worker (Mr. Dillahunt) on the run.

Preview performances begin May 22, and the opening is June 8. The production is scheduled to run through June 28.
