Winter’s Bone has won a couple of new prizes this week: the Best Feature Film prize at the Palm Beach Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Independent Film Festival Boston.

Winter’s Bone wins Grand Jury Prize at Florida Film Festival

Winter’s Bone won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature at the Florida Film Festival, which closed on Sunday.

The film also nabbed the Special Jury Prize at the Sarasota Film Festival this weekend. Herald Tribune has a brief report.

New film in development: Arkansas Traveler (and other updates)

The news I mentioned yesterday:
Garret has a new film in development called Arkansas Traveler. It’s a western written by Deadwood’s Sean Bridgers, still in the development stage, with Bridgers and Angela Bettis also attached to star. (Go here for the synopsis.)

Winter’s Bone has won an independent jury prize at the Berlin Film Festival, which closes on Sunday.

Winter’s Bone: Release date, soundtrack, SXSW screenings

Looks like Winter’s Bone will be released in the U.S. sooner rather than later.
Winter’s Bone, recipient of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival’s Dramatic Competition Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic and the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, will get a June 2010 release from Roadside Attractions. [Pretty-Scary.net]

Oliver Sherman going to Berlinale

Looks like Oliver Sherman will be getting some promotion at the Berlin Film Festival, too. I can’t find anything about it being screened there (it’s still in post-production), but the film will be part of the Canada at Berlinale 2010 program and probably looking for a European distributor.

Winter’s Bone wins at Sundance

Winter’s Bone won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance this weekend and also a Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, which went to Debra Granik and Anne Rosellini.
Roadside Attractions snagged the domestic distribution rights and the film is now expected to see the light of day in the summer, at least in the U.S.
